An elegant figurine of a woman holding a large harp by her side, possibly in an ancient greek setting. She is mounted on an elaborate pedestal base. The lamp has an original antique and highly unusual gas shade with sensuous curvature as its glass covering for the light bulb. This is a particularly nice example of a sculptural style of cast metal lamp popular in the late Victorian years. It is complete, in its old, original finish. This female figure is finely but strongly crafted with fantastic detail. Made of what is known as spelter metal, it is actually cast zinc-copper alloy that ages to resemble bronze. This lamp makes a lovely occasional lamp that gives a little light to a room without being a primary source of illumination. In our household we are involved with a lot of fine music. This lamp graced our music room for years.
