Chinese Song Yuan Dynasty 13th 14th Century Qinghai Funerary Pottery Jars Mounted As Lamps A Pair
Chairish$2,800
A pair of Chinese Song, Yuan Dynasty Qinghai funerary jars mounted as Lamps. The jars date from the 13th 14th century. Both vessels are in a sand colored glaze. The slender baluster shaped bodies of the jars are surmounted by a tall neck encircled with molded human figures, mythical creatures and dragon decorations. The jars are mounted on wood bases. Thin wire is used to secure and direct the braided cords. These handmade pieces are slightly different in height. The one that appears to be a tiny bit shorter has a leveler on the shaft for shade height adjustment. Both lamps have very nice braided wires and plugs that appear to have been done in the last 20 years. We have not removed the jars from the lamp bases, however we are confident the jars are intact and have not been drilled.
