Sculptural table lamp attributed to the designer Federico Simone, produced by Ceramiche Casarte in Torre del Greco in the 1970s. The base is composed of three elements that form two overlapping volumes in cobalt blue glazed ceramic with a deep, intense glossy finish. Three transparent crackled glass cylinders of varying heights emerge from the central body. These can be used as flower vases, diffusing light with a rich, reflective material effect. The whole recalls an abstract floral composition, clearly inspired by the experimental Italian design of the time. Federico Simone (1941) worked as a designer and artistic director of Casarte, contributing to the definition of its aesthetic identity between artistic ceramics and industrial production. with the corporate transformation into Industria Ceramica Salernitana (ICS), Casarte strengthened its dialogue with contemporary design. Among its notable collaborations was that with renowned architect and designer Luigi Massoni, who designed the company's new logo and helped shape its image toward a more modern and international outlook. The clear glass cylinders or glasses are made using the "cracklé" technique, a blown glass in which the still-hot surface is immersed in cold water or subjected to rapid thermal shock, causing an internal network of controlled fractures that create a "spiderweb" effect of micro-cracks. Subsequent annealing stabilizes the structure, allowing light to pass through and diffuse in a radiant and irregular manner. Each tube thus becomes a luminous prism that captures reflections on the ceramic base and generates dynamic plays of light in the space. This technique, highly prized in glass art and design, gives the object not only a strong aesthetic quality but also a technical and artisanal value, as it requires thermal control, blowing, and a high-quality finish.
