Danish Table Lamp In Ash By Kaare Klint, 1940s

Chairish

$3,254

Early and important Le Klint table lamp Model 301 in beautifully patinated solid ash wood with hand folded Le Klint shade. The lamp was designed by Kaare Klint in the 1940s and is associated with Danish Modern furniture by Hans J. Wegner, Mogens Koch, Finn Juhl etc. It went out of production in the 1960s and is a rare find. Kaare Klint’s furniture hold a special position in the story of modern Danish design. Several decades after their creation, iconic works such as Klint’s Red Chair Series, sofas and Faaborg Chair are still highly sought-after pieces, as they laid the foundation for the Danish Modern phenomenon worldwide. As a teacher and co-founder of the Department of Furniture Design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts, established in 1924, Klint inspired a new generation of designers, including Arne Jacobsen, Mogens Koch and Poul Kjærholm. Today, Klint is regarded as a reformer: as one of the first designers to put functionalism and the practical study of architecture and furniture design principles above style, he redefined a period otherwise characterized by style-focused academic teaching. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, Up to 250V (Europe/UK Standard). The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
