Vintage Rare Signed Doane Powell 1881-1951 Art Deco Polynesian Sculpture Head or Table Top Torchiere Up-light Lamp. Sculpture was originally designed to serve as tabletop torchiere/candle lamp, with light washing the wall above, and lighting the eyes, also verse enough to be used as stand alone sculpture, inserted glass vase. In Great Condition consistent for it's age and use. Smooth ceramic glaze appears to have it's original finish/patina with no known alterations, stripping, harsh cleaning. No Known Chips, Any/all imperfections appears from manufacturing. Aftermarket Uplight (not included). Measurements Approximated: Height 11ʺ, Depth 7ʺ Doane Powell, an Omaha-born cartoonist, illustrator, and artist, graduated from the University of Nebraska with a degree in art in 1904. He later studied in Paris art academies and was an instructor at the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts. Powell, although primarily an illustrator, during his later career made masks of many notables, including Mae West, Gen. Hugh Johnson, Huey Long, and Greta Garbo.
