Shanty cabinet designed by Doshi Levien in 2014 manufactured in Barcelona by BD.Shanty is inspired in the patchwork of corrugated steel sheets which are used to construct many temporary or provisional homes, which exist in the whole world. Its beauty lies in imperfection. This spontaneous composition of superimposed surfaces in different colours is recreated with a wavy front. Its body has an asymmetrical volume and each door opens differently.Materials:Containers: MDF in a matte lacquered finish.Doors: MDF with mechanised wave-form fronts, and matte lacquered finish.Glass top 8mmLegs: Gold extruded aluminumStructure: Tubular iron MODEL B: hinged door + drawersAvailable in Small Size and different colors.Dimensions:D 208 cm x W 52 cm x H 97.5 cmD 72 in x W 20.5 in x H 38.4 inAbout the designers:Doshi Levien is a London based design office, established in 2000 by Nipa Doshi and Jonathan Levien. Doshi Levien's work celebrates the hybrid and explores the coming together of cultures, technology, storytelling, Industrial Design and fine craftsmanship.Working across disciplines and industries, they make their own rules that are based on extracting as much richness as possible out of an idea. Doshi Levien work for a broad range of clients, including Moroso, Swarovski, Intel, Camper, Authentics, Cappellini and now BD Barcelona Design.About BD Barcelona:Accompanied with artisanal processes instead of mass production, their products always have more proximity to art than Industrial Design. Characterised by superior quality, short-series productions (and on occasion limited editions), and unique pieces due to crafted manufacturing. In the 70’s, BD pleasantly surprised by editing Gaudí’s furniture for his famous buildings and in the early 90’s, BD again astounded by introducing an exclusive first collection of furniture and lamps designed by Dalí. Recently the collections and designers with an accentuated artistic profile like Jaime Hayon and Doshi Levien, continue to point the way where design and art meet together. Design meets Art. Since 1972.
