Early 20th Century Arts & Crafts Heywood-Wakefield Antique Wicker Table Lamp with Silk Underlay on Mushroom Shaped Shade. Heywood Brothers was established in 1826, Wakefield Company in 1855. In 1897 the rival companies merged and their name was eventually changed to Heywood-Wakefield Company. Producing masterful wicker and rattan furniture during the 19th century, they dominated the market with advanced interweaving. Their wicker styles drew on the Aesthetic Movement and Japanese influences; simpler designs arose in the wake of the Arts and Crafts Movement. They stayed abreast of furniture trends by hiring designers such as Paul Frankl and Donald Deskey during the 1920s. This is a lamp from that era with complex weaves and a muted color palette. The shade retains its original silk liner to attest to its age. You may or may not choose to remove it. With all electrical items, especially of this age, I advise having an electrician look it over. Dimensions: 19.5” W x 19.5” D x 26.5” H In good condition considering age and history. Zoom in on photos to see any imperfections including a few broken pieces of wicker and pinholes and discoloration in the silk liner.
