Up for sale is an unusual Burmese four-tiered lacquered cylindrical tiffin box or food carrier/picnic basket, htamin-gyaing, beautifully decorated in layers with finely incised images of court scenes or sage preaching, all four stacked compartments set within a wooden frame carrier handle and topped with a cup set on a shallow plate, overall covered with red and black lacquer together with some fine lines highlighted in gold, early 20th century, in overall good condition with minor chipping, color losses and surface wear, mounted as a unique table lamp, tested in working condition, no lampshade included These food carrier were extremely popular during colonial times.
