Fine etched glass, art deco table lamps by artist Wilhelm (William) Hunt Diederich, grandson of William Morris Hunt. The hunt scenes shown here feature a male nude and two greyhounds on one side, and a gazelle/impala and two greyhounds on the reverse. (The former is based on his design for a weathervane, the first iteration created in 1915.) Like many of his era, he embraced several media, including paper cutouts, metalwork, clay, and, here, glass. Pieces by Diederich are included in the collections of the Met and the Smithsonian. Beautiful example of early American modernism. These have been professionally rewired using an adjustable cluster housing in polished nickel and fabric covered wire. Base is 5 inches diameter.
