Hollywood Regency style. Pair of French ceramic urn table lamps by Louis Drimmer, Onet-le-Château, France, 1980s. The classical urn-form bodies draw on the neoclassical urn vocabulary of French decorative arts, here translated into a high-gloss 1980s register. The salmon pink enamelled body widens at the shoulder and narrows into copper-lustred collars at the neck and foot, resting on a matching stepped ceramic pedestal base. The contrast of soft pastel ground and warm metallic glaze is characteristic of Drimmer's "Haute Couture" production, for which the manufactory built its reputation on hand-finished ceramic bases enriched with precious lustre decoration in gold, platinum, and copper. Signed in script: L. Drimmer. Fitted with new matching paper shades in a warm peach tone with long visible fibers that echo the salmon ground. One lamp has a hairline crack on the underside, visible only on close inspection (see images); otherwise both are in very good condition. Newly rewired for US use. Louis Drimmer founded his lamp manufactory in 1945 in Onet-le-Château, France, producing hand-finished ceramic bases and hand-sewn shades in the "Haute Couture" tradition. Distributed across some twenty countries, the manufactory continues to release new collections at the major Paris decoration fairs.
