This modernist table or wall lamp originates from the 1930s, a period when functionalist design and new industrial materials were transforming domestic interiors across Central Europe. This particular piece was sourced from a villa in Brno, where it formed part of the original interior refurbishment, giving the lamp not only aesthetic value but also architectural and historical context. The design is built around a then very modern black bakelite circular base with an integrated on/off switch, from which a milk glass sphere emerges at the centre. The combination of bakelite, glass, and steel reflects the material language of the period - practical, modern, and elegant without unnecessary decoration. The lamp remains in very good vintage condition, showing only minor wear and a natural patina consistent with age, including a small chip at the bottom of the base. These signs of time give the piece its unique character and authenticity. The lamp has been recently rewired with a new orange textile cable in keeping with the original design spirit and is fully functional.
