This fantastic table lamp was designed by Hartmut Engel in 1979 and made in Berlin by Brendel & Loewig, but it has characteristics that remind us of designs by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Gino Sarfatti, and other masters of Italian lighting from the 60s and 70s. It has a touch of Industrial Design with the steel construction and exposed hardware, but a sublime attention to detail including the crisply folded metal and the perforated heat/bulb shield in the open space that defines the two halves.
