Italian modern Carrara marble table lamp Biagio by Tobia Scarpa for Flos, 1970s Iconic and fantastic table lamp mod. Biagio with direct light and rounded structure obtained from a single block of white Carrara marble. The light source is located inside, thus allowing a backlighting of the marble. Produced by Flos in 1970s and designed by Tobia Scarpa in 1968. Excellent conditions, it has 3 very small chips. Measurements in cm 44 x 14 x 36 H Historical piece signed by Tobia Scarpa for Flos. Weighing over 7 kg, it is a luminous object out of the ordinary. In this case, the boundary between lamp and ornamental object is extremely blurred: while the smooth surfaces of the marble stand out and shine in the light of day, the effect changes when accompanied by the light source placed inside. The natural veins of the marble acquire prominence and change for each piece, making it unique and unrepeatable. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
