A brass and glass basket light fixture by J.T. Kalmar, Vienna, Austria, manufactured in midcentury, circa 1960 (late 1950s or early 1960s).Three fixtures are available. The price is per light. The lamp can be used with a longer rod as chandelier or with short rod as semi flush mount light. Height body without rod: 8.2 inch (21 cm). The overall drop on the photos is ca. 19 inch (49 cm) but can be customized for free of charge. The fixture is in very good condition. It has been cleaned and it is ready to use.Twelve curved and structured pieces of clear glass form a basket. This is a reminiscence of the typical basket chandeliers of the Viennese coffee house era of the 1950s. However, those chandeliers were made of many small glass crystals joined together and not, like this version, of large pieces of glass. This interpretation is a more modern form of the traditional interpretation. The light has sockets for small Edison screw base bulbs type E14. It is possible to install this fixture in all countries (US, UK, Europe, Asia, Canada,) although it may be necessary to purchase different light bulbs suitable to local electricity. It also can be used with a dimmer.About Kalmar:Founded in Vienna by Julius August Kalmar in 1881, Kalmar first specialized in the production of handcrafted objects of cast bronze. After the turn of the century, Julius Theodor Kalmar, son of the original founder, studied under the renowned Austrian architect and designer Josef Hoffmann. In the following years the company realized modern lighting concepts and designs.
