Huge Meiji Japanese Cloisonné Black Ground Bird & Blossom Tall Table Lamp 40" This stunning monumental Meiji-period (1868–1912) Japanese cloisonné enamel vase has been professionally converted into a dramatic very tall table lamp. The elegant baluster form features a rich, glossy black enamel ground that beautifully showcases the classic kachōga (bird-and-flower) motif. Intricate silver or copper wire cloisons outline delicate white and pink prunus (cherry/plum) blossoms on graceful gray branches, a finely detailed perched pheasant/quail-like bird with realistic featherwork, a smaller flying bird overhead, and a vibrant lower band of wildflowers, daisies, and chrysanthemums in purples, yellows, and greens. The high-polish black enamel and fine wirework are hallmarks of high-quality Meiji export cloisonné. Dimensions: 40 1/2 inches tall to the top of the finial what the photos show (adjustable 39-43 INCHES)× 10 inches wide at the widest point of the body. The actual vase is 27 inches . A substantial, statement-making size perfect as an accent lamp or standalone decorative piece. Lamp Hardware: Period brass pull-chain socket with dual switches, black stem, and matching finial. Includes original cord. Condition: Good condition there is visible chips under the top lip of lamp with enamel loss, and a crack not noticeable unless pointed out. The glossy finish remains lustrous and mirror-like besides the repair under the lip. The lamp does came with a felt bottom.
