Offering a pair of handsome silver-plated candlesticks-as-lamps, each having a lovely old patina and in excellent antique condition. They're most likely of English origin, certainly over 100 years old, Victorian in style. As the photos testify, much of the silver plating has been polished off over the decades, revealing the copper base metal, a most attractive look. A "decorator's delight!" These were originally fashioned as candlesticks but originally converted a very long time ago (in Europe). A very small exit hole, rectangular, exists at one corner of each base. You can see in the picture showing the undersides that a bit of metal has been sawed off the corners to make way for the cord. The exit hole in the silver-plated element is tiny and unobtrusive and was expertly accomplished (by a master metal-smith, in my opinion). This rectangular exit is so small that it can't accommodate any wire larger than the gauge you see, which is "chandelier wire" (brand new). Each wire is fitted with an in-line antique on-off switch (each being unique) which will delight the lighting enthusiast. Each candlestick has a brand-new American standard-based socket at its top. Attached to each shade is a device that clips onto the single bulb in each lamp. The very small finials are slightly different and antique. The shades are brand-new and black; they measure 13 inches across at the bottom. One shade suffered a couple of dents/creases near its bottom (and can't be replaced as this is the only pair that the store had). See the photos of these two dent (on one shade only). Each socket is fitted with a "bulb extender" to benefit the height of the shade (about 9 inches). These lamps will add great distinction to the home. Measurements: about 24 inches high, as shown, including the shades. The shades are 13 inches across at the bottom.
