Mattiazzi’s MCA1 Zona is a modern wool rug designed by Annahita Kamali and Florian Böhm, bringing a playful interplay of bold colors and shapes into the living space. The hand-knotted, smooth-surfaced rug features a graphic pattern that subtly divides the room into smaller zones, each with its own character – perhaps the coffee table feels most at home beside the red area, while a floor lamp naturally belongs along the blue stripe? The Zona rugs are hand-knotted in Nepal using traditional techniques passed down through generations. The largest rugs feature close to one million knots – the equivalent of one megapixel in the digital world! The colors are entirely non-toxic and are mixed by hand, guided by the local dye master’s skill and intuition.
