Mid-Century Ceramic Lamp With Italian Renaissance Arms And Armor Decor, 1960s

Chairish

$1,309

I offer for sale a splendid lamp handcrafted in Italy around the mid-20th century modern and which recalls in its composition of decorative elements that make up the turquoise ceramic base, the Italian Renaissance. As Piero Fornasetti did in his decorative series "Panoplie", they have been juxtaposed and superimposed in a plastic composition that forms the base of the lamp, a series of elements such as various parts of armor, assorted weapons and shields arranged as a celebratory trophy, a common custom during the Renaissance but also during the Neoclassical period. We have not been able to attribute this vintage lamp to a specific ceramic manufacturer or designer, although the use of the heraldic coat of arms with three Florentine lilies surmounted by a crown makes us think of a probable Tuscan production. The measurements of the base of the ceramic lamp are these: Width: 22cm Depth: 22cm Height: 25.5cm Total dimensions of the lamp complete with lampshade: Width: 35cm Depth: 35cm Height: 72cm The lamp is working, and it's in good vintage conditions. The lamp shows minimal imperfections on the ceramic highlighted in photos and minimal signs of aging on the gilded metal stem. The white pagoda lampshade was custom made by a professional recently. The electrical system is the original one from the period with the wires covered in gilded cotton. Reach out with any additional questions. Up to 250V (Europe/UK Standard). The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
