Stunning mid-century American Indian tent-shaped table or floor lamp in bamboo and rattan. This wonderful big lamp was made in Italy during the 1960s in the style of Louis Sognot. The outer structure is made up of four bamboo and rattan bamboo stems that shapes a beige cotton shade that shrinks on the top in the centre. The effect of this shape on the diffusion of light is just breathtaking. This item is perfect for a mid-century ethnic or tiki living room or bedroom or French Riviera porch. This item is wired for E27 light bulbs. Louis Sognot was a French designer best known for his elegant furniture made from a combination of rattan and wood. Sognot was influenced by Art Deco and Cubist aesthetics, giving his work a unique stylistic flair while also being usable. Born on May 25, 1892 in Paris, France, Sognot studied at the École Bernard-Pablissy before working as a designer at the Au Printemps department store in Paris in 1919. The designer went on to become a founding member of the Union des Artistes Decoroteurs. He died in 1970 in Paris, France.
