This striking Ming-style Italian ceramic table lamp attributed to Ugo Zaccagnini, features a bold, sculptural form finished in a vibrant crackle glaze and mounted on a wood base. The lamp retains its original wiring and is currently in working condition. The elegant baluster form draws inspiration from traditional Chinese Ming dynasty silhouettes, a motif that became highly fashionable in European decorative arts during the mid-20th century. Ugo Zaccagnini (1919–1992) was a noted Italian ceramicist active in Florence during the mid-20th century. His workshop became known for highly stylized figural and decorative ceramic pieces that blended traditional craftsmanship with modernist sensibilities. Zaccagnini’s lamps and sculptures were widely exported during the 1950s–1970s and remain collectible for their bold forms, textural surfaces, and distinctly Italian aesthetic. Similar lamps in alternate glaze colors have been documented as Zaccagnini lamps. However, because of the base placement, there is no visible maker’s mark. As such, the lamp is offered as attributed to Ugo Zaccagnini based on stylistic comparison. This lamp will be shipped with the original harp and finial.
