Sleek, elegant, sophisticated, these are the words that best describe this fantastic modernist lamp that was produced in the early 1960s, in Vienna, Austria. Here we can see the influences of the times, for example Paul Evans comes immediately to mind when one looks at the patina of the brass and the texture of the glass. The base is made up of rolled brass with holes of varying sizes. The glasses then hand formed and pushed through the holes. As a result of the high temperature of the melted glass during the crafting process, the brass has developed a unique patina, therefore making each light a one of a kind piece. The black and gold shade has been renewed. Whether illuminated or not, it is a very beautiful object that would suit a Mid-Century Modern or Contemporary interior. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
