Vintage midcentury carved alabaster table lamp. The cylindrical columnar shaft is surmounted by a foliate-carved capital and raised on a stepped square base, fitted with a cream fabric shade. Exhibiting characteristic veining and translucence of Italian alabaster. Italy was a major center for alabaster carving, particularly in Volterra and Tuscany, where artisans produced decorative objects and lighting in the 19th and 20th centuries.
