Designed by Swedish brothers Uno & Östen Kristiansson for Luxus, Sweden. The Kristianssons are celebrated for their clean-lined, humanistic approach to lighting, and their work is considered emblematic of Scandinavian modernism. The 1950s–60s were the height of Scandinavian design exports, when Luxus established itself as a leader in innovative, high-quality lighting. Later, the company also expanded into furniture production. This lamp was produced in oak and rosewood during the 1960s. Compared with earlier examples, this later model introduced refinements such as a robust press switch mounted directly on the base and a straight stem (rather than tapered), which allowed the wiring to be neatly integrated inside the design.
