This table lamp was made in France around 1930 and combines elements of Modernist and Arts and Crafts design. It features a solid oak base with an integrated light switch and carved detailing that forms small recessed areas, suitable for placing writing instruments or other small objects. Oak was widely used in French furniture of the period for its durability and suitability for detailed woodworking. The copper shade is made using the repoussé technique, in which the metal is shaped by hand from the reverse side to create surface relief.
