Fabulous Murano glass table lamp. It was produced by master craftsman Walter Furlan in the 1980s using the straight filigree technique. The execution of this technique testifies to the artistic skill of master craftsman Furlan, a man who was not lacking in character. Filigree is associated with the magic of the Murano furnaces. Filigree glass is made up of colored glass rods that are arranged parallel to each other on top of the molten glass mass that has been rounded on the Magiosso. The invention of filigree dates back to Roman times, but the Venetians took it to the highest levels of refinement in the 1500s. It represents one of the main techniques and types of glassworking perfected by the Venetians, testifying to the mercantile genius of that city. Ideal on a table to illuminate a corner of the room.
