Born in Venice to a wealthy Jewish bourgeois family, a former aeronautical engineer, Sarfatti approached design as a self-taught artist, founding the Arteluce company in 1939 and personally designing most of the models in its catalog. Arteluce was one of the very few Milanese firms to approach the theme of lighting with a modern approach, distancing itself from the traditional styles then in vogue. After fleeing racial persecution in Switzerland during the Second World War, Sarfatti continued his relentless pursuit of design after the war, conceiving light as an element designed to maximize architectural spaces. In addition to having designed more than 400 series models, he was awarded two Compasso d'Oro (1954, 1955) and the Gold Medal at the XV Triennale (1973) This piece has an attribution mark, I am sure that it is completely authentic and take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution, European Plug (up to 250V).The wiring of this item may be original and might need replacement, if not specified otherwise.
