Pair Of Italian Studio Ceramic Table Lamps With Walnut Bases, C. 1960s

Chairish

$1,700

Substantial matched pair of hand-built ceramic table lamps in the Italian studio tradition, circa 1960s. Each lamp features a generous teardrop-form body in off-white stoneware with a heavily textured, sgrafitto-scored surface — the dragged glaze revealing warm earthen tones beneath. Applied vertical relief strips run the full height of each body, stamped with repeating circular rosette medallions in a manner consistent with Italian ceramic production of the period, particularly the Bitossi and Fratelli Fanciullacci workshops of Tuscany. The two lamps are closely matched rather than identical — a natural consequence of hand production — with subtle variation in the relief stamps and neck glazing between the two bodies. Original brass hardware throughout. Turned walnut bases. Sold as lamp bases; shades not included. Minor firing cracks along the applied relief strips on both lamps, consistent with age and the nature of the applied construction technique. One lamp shows a small glaze loss at the lower relief strip. All noted as condition, not damage — these are stable, structural characteristics of the original firing.
