This pair of patinated copper brutalist forms, like all of Thomas Roy Markusen's work,. were free formed without the use of molds or dies. Markusen was partial to copper as it is a reactive metal that can be heat oxidized into a rainbow of colors or changed with acid or salt to give him a virtually limitless palette to work with. The vases are mounted on stacked brass and lucite bases and have been re-wired to be electrically new.
