Pair Of Mid-Century Italian Spectacled Owl Pottery Lamps, 1960s

Chairish

$1,820

Pair of Mid-Century Italian Spectacled Owl Pottery Lamps, 1960s 21" high (to finial) · 15" to socket · 10.5" owl height · 6" diameter bases Complete with harps and finials. A striking pair of mid-century Italian polychrome pottery lamps modeled as stylized spectacled owls, their expressive black-rimmed eyes and exuberant yellow plumage rendered in a brilliant majolica-style glaze. Each owl is perched on a snowy ceramic mound and set upon a later ebonized wood base, giving the pair a sculptural, totemic presence. Hand-painted feather textures, high-gloss glazes, and playful animalier modeling reflect the Italian ceramic tradition of Bassano and Capodimonte workshops active during the 1950s–70s. The lamps retain their original Italian brass sockets and have been newly rewired for safe use. Whimsical yet sophisticated, this pair adds mid-century character to any interior—from Palm Beach Regency to Italian Modernist. Period: Mid-20th Century, c. 1960s Origin: Italy Materials: Glazed pottery, wood, brass Condition: Excellent vintage condition, minor glaze irregularities typical of hand-painted Italian ceramics.
