Unique handmade Danish modern table lamp with brown glazing by German sculptor and designer Haico Nitzsche for Danish Søholm Pottery. Manufactured on the Danish island of Bornholm in the 1970s. About the designer: Haico Nitzsche was trained in ceramics in his homeland, Germany before teaching at the National Institute of Design in Ahmedabad, India in 1968-1970. Nitzsche was a leading creator of ceramic art-forms in Denmark in the 1970s and was the technical leader and designer at Søholm from 1974-1982. His work still stands out as functional items with a strong sculptural essence, and at present Nitzsche uses his artistic efforts as a sculptor. He lives and works in Norway and his work has been exhibited all across Europe. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
