Very rare set of four (4) Paul Mayén for Laurel Lamp Company, Chimney Lamps. 1970's. The slanted cylinder, chimney style lamps emit light from the front and top. Colors include white, blue, yellow and chrome. Marked on bottom. The Laurel Lamp Company of Newark, NJ was an American lighting manufacturer that was founded in the 1950s by Charles Kurz and Edward Engelhard. The company specialized in the production of high-quality, modernist lighting fixtures that were designed to be both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Paul Mayén (1916-2000) was a Spanish architect and industrial designer known for his work at Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater. Following his graduation from Columbia, taught classes in advertising design at his alma mater, Cooper Union, and The New School, both in Manhattan. His lamps, tables, and other furniture are featured in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art in New York City. H 11.5 inches, Diameter 3.5 inches
