Otto prutscher designed this lamp for the 1925 exposition internationale des arts décoratifs et industriels modernes in paris. it was manufactured by the viennese bronze foundry melzer & neuhardt. solid cast bronze; silk shade. Renewed electrification. it was exhibited in the pavilion designed by josef hoffmann. apparently, prutscher was awarded a gold medal for the design – he recorded this in his cv, and it is also mentioned in a congratulatory letter from the vienna arts and crafts association dated november 6, 1925. references: hermi & fritz schedlmyer, otto prutscher, architect and designer between tradition and modernity, volume 1; p. 334, note 176. the original photograph with the corresponding is kept in the archives of the vienna museum of applied arts (mak) (inv.
