One can feel the movement of the youth's clothes, and the wonderful expression of the blue eyes. Is it happiness, or sorrow, or acceptance, or perhaps, surprise? Up to the observer. Although part of the original "made in Italy" label is gone, the "I" of Italy is left. There's a familial provenance. This lamp was purchased by family members in New York in 1959 at a well established furniture store that imported exclusively from Italy. As seen on one of the images, the lamp is currently in working order. The metal post that holds the socket is loose, but that can be easily tighten by someone in the know how. There are no cracks or chips than are visible to me. Some of the gold is missing on the base. All handpainted and masterly formed. What a treasure to own
