A pair of 1970s spanish ceramic table lamps crisply glazed in white and modeled in a convincing faux-wicker pattern; the handwoven jute shades, newly added, carry the woven idea above the ceramic in a soft, warm fiber. The pair has been newly rewired. Us plug standard; international plug available on request. Height includes lampshades. the lamps come from manises, a coastal valencia ceramics town that has been turning out export pieces for centuries. By the 1970s, its potteries were experimenting freely with form and surface, and these belong to that wave: a ceramic homage to the wrapped wicker vessels of mediterranean tradition, with the white glaze leaving the trompe-l'œil weave to do all the visual work. a few small areas of glaze loss are present on close inspection. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
