70s table lamp designed, and signed at the base, by Romeo Rega. This table lamp fully represents the super glamorous style in vogue in Rome, the designer's hometown, author of the iconic chariot of the blockbuster Ben Hur. The Roman style of the mid-twentieth century, of which Romeo Rega and Renato Zevi are the leading designers, is characterized by a minimal design "forged" with semi-precious metals that reflect and sparkle. Essential structures with severe geometric lines are created in chrome and brass, smoked or mirrored glass become support surfaces or furniture doors. The lamp we offer is a true manifesto of this style; a parallelepiped structure, covered with sections of smoked mirrors, which create the movement of a line that goes up and down on each face. The color of the mirrors is profoundly influenced by the light emitted by the lamp itself, adjustable in intensity thanks to an internal dimmer whose on/off knob is made up of the small frontal brass cylinder that can rotate in both directions. This mid 20th century modern lamp works and is in good vintage condition. The beveled mirrors are intact and free of scratches, the brass base shows minimal signs of use and age visible in the photos. The electrical system has been partially restored, the lamp holder, power cord and electrical socket have been replaced. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history.
