Vintage Tobacco Leaf Chinoiserie Porcelain Lamp With Double Happiness Finial And Ming Style Base - Shade Included
Chairish$695
This is a vintage Chinoiserie Tobacco Leaf porcelain table lamp, richly decorated with hand-painted florals in a soft yet vibrant palette of coral, blush, periwinkle, and celadon. The pattern features large-scale peony-style blooms layered over the tobacco leaves, a classic motif symbolizing prosperity and refinement in Chinese decorative arts. The lamp is mounted with aged brass hardware, including a sculptural neck and original harp, topped by a distinctive finial featuring the Double Happiness symbol, a Chinese motif associated with joy, harmony, and celebration. This detail adds a layer of cultural symbolism and design authenticity that sets the piece apart. The porcelain body rests on a carved wooden Ming style base. The proportions are elegant and balanced, making it an ideal statement piece for a console, bedside, or layered vignette. Unmarked, as is typical of many mid-century export pieces, but stylistically consistent with high-quality Chinese export or Hong Kong workshop production from the mid-20th century. The bell shaped lamp shade is included and is fully lined. The lamp measures 20” to base of socket and 32” to top of finial. The shade is 13” h, 8”w at the top and 16”w at the bottom. Accessories pictured are not included. Measurements given are for the lamp and harp without the shade.
