late 19th century birch sewing table with contents circa 1895. good quality find on our travels around sweden, complete with contents which we decided to keep with the piece. bookmark veneered top with strung border and cross banded edge. single drawer with working lock and key, opens to reveal a partially fitted interior of compartments and fixed bowl dishes. further storage space illustrated by the contents of sewing items, such as buttons, needles, thread and ribbons. top is raised on a lyre form support, which links down the quadriform base and turned feet. good rich colour, recently re-polished in our workshop by hand. minor surface marks, ready for everyday use.
