English Walnut Burl Two-Drawer Writing Table

This two-drawer walnut writing desk is made for us by our English cabinetmaker. Using time-honored techniques, this table is created in just the same fashion as it would have been 200 years ago. The leather top has a mottled surface with gold tooling and it is bordered by a frame of walnut burl. The burl is continued on the drawer fronts where it is framed by a crossbanding of straight-grain walnut. The same look accentuates the top of each leg, which in turn taper down to a terminus in a brass toe cap with caster.
