Mario Bellini La Basilica Table For Cassina A designer table with an expressive name and exemplary construction, and a solid linear shape that reflects the new design language developed by Mario Bellini in the 1970s.Part of a series designed in 1976 with a focus on the primary functions of furniture, this wood table also draws inspiration from the dynamics of architectural structures to offer a versatile and, at the same time, meaningful furniture solution. The relationship between design and architecture is expressed in the combination of the measured thickness of the top and the two bases, punctuated by four support columns for a modern rectangular table available in different types of wood.TOPSolid ash wood.LEGSSolid ash wood.FINISHMatt and clear paint.A table with a solid architectural structure that was an example of the new design language that Mario Bellini devised in the 1970s and examined in his Libro dell’Arredamento. In line with this approach, which was based on the primary functions of individual pieces of furniture, where each piece can be recast through a reinterpretation of its traditional form, depending on function, materials and finishes. La Rotonda is one of a series of tables designed in 1976, including La Corte, Il Colonnato, and La Loggia, all of them inspired by primary structures from classical architecture. The outcome was a number of solutions that respond to any need. These masterpieces underscore the close relationship that exists between furniture design and architecture, exemplified in this case in the use of supports such as pillars, all of which testify to Cassina’s peerless mastery in wood-working.Important information regarding images of products:Please note that some of the images show other colors and variations of the model, these images are only to present interior design proposals.
