This delicate dish was created in collaboration by two of our favorite makers — the iconic ceramicist Astier de Villatte and celebrated designer John Derian. The process begins in Astier’s historic Paris workshop, where skilled local artisans shape black terracotta clay into old-fashioned handcarved plaster molds, creating the plate’s simple, octagonal shape. From there, it’s coated with the brand’s signature milky white glazed and then finished with a vintage illustration of a delicate papillon, sourced from Derian’s expansive collection of antique imagery. A breath of fresh air in any serveware collection, grab just one for a statement piece or go with multiples for a unique way to serve up apps or desserts at your next dinner party.
