Circa late 19th Century to early 20th Century. An exceptionally rare and valuable collection of fine porcelain oysters plates with gilt seaweed design by English company Brownfields for retail by Tiffany & Company. The plates feature a snow white ground on a deeply ribbed thin porcelain mold with gilded ruffled and scalloped rim. They are decorated with bright gold seaweed in relief and bordered with intricate detail. Each plate consists of five oyster wells with center shallow sauce well. On the reverse of the plate, there is an English registration mark which dates to the late 19th C. The plates have both an impressed mark and a transfer mark for manufacture by Brownfield's who worked out of Cobridge in Stoke-on-Trent in England during the 19th Century. The plate also has a transfer stamp for Tiffany & Co, New York, which indicates it was made by Brownfield's for retail by Tiffany. The oyster plates are in very good antique condition with no chips or cracks, however has very fine crazing throughout, often seen in 19th Century porcelain. A beautiful example of the collaboration between English makers and Tiffany & Company from the height of their fame.
