This set grew out of the partnership between Cassina and Ginori 1735 and engraves the porcelain with the patterns inspired by the designer’s photos.Cassina in collaboration with Ginori 1735 and Pernette Perriand-BarsacCharlotte Perriand’s innovative designs are the expression of anew art de vivre that ran against the currents of the day. The Le Monde de Charlotte Perriand collection – which beganas a partnership between Cassina and Pernette Perriand-Barsac,Charlotte’s daughter and founder of her mother’s archives – is inspiredby the patterns in the photographs taken by Perriand between 1933and 1934 and manufactured in partnership with Ginori 1735. Handdecorated patterns for porcelain dinnerware that brings another of thedesigner’s passions to fruition – ceramics – matured in contact with theJapanese masters during the years she lived in the Far East. Le Mondede Charlotte Perriand collection is composed of a charger, dinnerplate, soup plate and dessert plate, presented in sets of two, with threedifferent decorations that can be mixed or matched. Engraved on theplates are the designs inspired by Charlotte’s photos. Here, the platespainted with the Tronc pattern depict the circular striations of a treetrunk that could be the face of a lemur or the sensual mouth of anIndian goddess. Or, in the Neige pattern, the contours of a snow slab inthe cracks of a stone floor, captured on film in the Fontainebleau forestin 1934, elicit the likenesses of mythological animals or gorgons. Or,still, the fish bone on the Arête service that calls to mind a mysteriouswork tool.
