Early 20th century French faience serving platter featuring hand-painted floral decoration. Designed originally for asparagus and artichoke service, the molded rivulets cradle the spears while directing melted butter or cooking juices into the lower well. Flat upper surface accommodates an artichoke or other centerpiece. Equally suited for a small roast or chicken, the thoughtful form allows juices to drain neatly to one end. Marked fait main” to the reverse, denoting hand-painted craftsmanship.
