Kintsugi Charbon After Dinner Saucer

Bloomingdale's

$170

The artist Sarkis who designed this collection, is fascinated by this 16th century Japanese technique entitled--Kintsugi. The idea is to make visible repairs on fired ceramic using a mix of lacquer and gold. To complete the existing collection of gold trompe l'oeil on a pristine white background, Bernardaud is adding two new colors: Emperor Red and Coal Black. The red is deep, bold and textured - a highly complex color to master and reminiscent of the ancient lacquer finish; the coal black is solid and deep - mixed with gold, it adds an added touch of elegance and sophistication.
