Small but precious this tapestry that comes from the French town of Aubusson. A decoration rich in flowers and fruits revolves around a fight scene between a feline and a bird of prey with a large plumage. The bloody scene contrasts with the background which instead follows the more bucolic tradition of Aubusson tapestries. It seems that a group of Flemish tapestry weavers moved to the Aubusson area, taking advantage of the waters of the Creuse River to wash and degrease their wool and to prepare the dye colors. The presence on the site of numerous flocks encouraged these weaving workers to stop. The Flemish influence was always present in the Aubusson Manufacture: same technique as the low heddle.
