A fine antique early needlepoint tapestry with delicate petit point details. The tapestry features a fair-haired angel holding a harp and is worked with wool and silk thread along with glass beads. The harp is detailed with gilt-colored beads. The early Victorian tapestry is delightful. Details on the angels face include brilliant blue eyes, rosy checks, and rose colored lips. An exquisite piece. The needlework is framed in an octangular gilt frame which is not consistent with the age of the tapestry. One can see that the tapestry has been folded back at the corners to adapt to the frame. It appears that these pieces could be unfolded if desired. The needlework then could fit in a square frame. Measurements; top to bottom and side to side measure 21” inches across. Each corner measures 4” in length. Very good condition for age and use. Some wear to tapesty and there are three tiny holes shown in pictures.
