This tapestry is from the Renaissance painting by Peter Brueghel (Bruegel). A Flemish painter and print maker, he painted this summer landscape in 1565. This is one of six panels painted by the artist for the suburban Antwerp home of the wealthy merchant Niclaes Jongelinck, one of the artist's most enthusiastic patrons. Jongelinck owned no less than sixteen of Bruegel's works. This beautiful tapestry is woven on a jacquard loom by skilled weavers, keeping alive the centuries old tradition of tapestry manufacturing from generation to generation. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging with a Hines hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a wooden batten which is a concealed method of hanging. Composition: 53% cotton viscose, 41% cotton, 6% polyester Finish on reverse: This tapestry is fully backed with luxury cotton lining incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging purposes.
