This tapestry is inspired from a fine example of a classical Verdure Tapestry, such as those woven in France, Brussels and Flanders during the 18th Century. Many Verdure Tapestries were woven throughout the 16th to 18th Centuries, with designs based on plant forms, reflecting the interest in botanical themes during this period. These tapestries featured country scenes, often with birds, rivers and castles. This beautiful tapestry is woven on a jacquard loom by skilled weavers, keeping alive the centuries old tradition of tapestry manufacturing from generation to generation. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging with a Hines hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a wooden batten which is a concealed method of hanging.
