This vibrant botanical theme tapestry fragment comes from 18th century France, at the peak of the Verdure tradition. Two narrow panels were hand-stitched together as one hanging, with brilliant blue trim, that gives the works a diptych feeling for greater continuity in their narratives. The weavings show (expected) signs of abrasion and loss of pigment among the floral/foliate theme inhabited by the occasional bird.
