After an original painting by French artist Claude Oscar Monet. One of the most well-known of the Impressionist painters, Monet was born in Paris in 1840 and lived at his home at Giverny, some fifty miles west of Paris, until his death in 1926. Like other Impressionists, Monet has his own distinctive style and use of colour palette. This tranquil scene depicts the Lake in the garden of Monets home at Giverny. The Claude Monet House and Gardens are now open to visitors.
