After an original painting by French artist Claude Oscar Monet. One of the most well-known of the Impressionist painters, Monet was born in Paris in 1840 and lived at his home at Giverny, some fifty miles west of Paris, until his death in 1926. Like other Impressionists, Monet has his own distinctive style and use of colour palette. This tranquil scene depicts the Lake in the garden of Monets home at Giverny. The Claude Monet House and Gardens are now open to visitors. This beautiful tapestry is woven on a jacquard loom by skilled weavers, keeping alive the centuries old tradition of tapestry manufacturing from generation to generation. This tapestry is fully lined incorporating a sleeve along the top for hanging with a Hines hanging rod. Alternatively, this tapestry can be hung with a wooden batten which is a concealed method of hanging.
